August 13, 2014

Canada ski background

When it comes to vacations, whether you want beach or ski, most travelers tend to stay in the United States or wander down to Mexico for some R&R. However, not many people think about Canada as the place for vacations. Well, I’m here to tell you to banish those thoughts and put Canada on your bucket list because the resort towns of Whistler and Banff are out of this world–or this country at least–and they are not just for skiing and snowboarding, but also offer a wide array of activities for the summer months too! So pack your bags and get ready to experience the wonderful country that is Canada, eh!

Whistler, British Columbia

Just two short hours from the bustling city of Vancouver (just a short drive from Washington) lay the beautiful resort town of Whistler-Blackcomb. Home to the 2010 Winter Olympics, Whistler still highly celebrates their “Olympic heritage” and draws in visitors annually from all over the world. Whether you want to ski in the winter or hike in the summer, the two massive mountains have plenty of trails, chutes, and bowls to offer. With four championship golf courses, over 200 shops, 90 plus restaurants and bars, and the best opportunities for outdoor activities, Whistler is a destination not to pass up this year.

Banff, Alberta

The tiny, yet quintessential town of Banff is unique because it was the firs municipality in Canada incorporated inside a National Park. Not only is Banff home to some of the best skiing and hiking in Canada, but it is also known for its immaculate beauty and perfectly turquoise blue lake. Banff is only 90 minute away from the larger city of Calgary, and has glaciers, big animals, alpine meadows, emerald lakes, and of course, unforgettable scenery. Filled with small, local eateries and charming shops, Banff has something for every taste and personality. You will come for Winter and love it so much that you will want to stay for the summer.
